New Canaan, regarded affectionately by townspeople as "the next station to Heaven", is situated on 22 square miles with its southern border on the Merritt Parkway. Its 20,092 residents can be in New York City via Metro-North in an hour. The village center is a wonderful blend of charming shops and restaurants.

New Canaan schools are known to be some of the finest in the United States. Three elementary schools, a middle school and New Canaan High School offer a superb curriculum, advanced placement, special education classes, interscholastic sports, and after school clubs and activities.
Recreation:
Town parks support swimming, skating, children's playgrounds, 13 tennis courts, baseball diamonds, paddle-tennis, walking and hiking paths and fishing. Located within the 300 acre Waveny Park (the largest of the five town parks) are the Society for the Arts at the Carriage Barn and the Town Players of New Canaan in the 220 seat Powerhouse Theatre. The library, YMCA, Silvermine Arts Center, and the 40 acre Nature Center are enjoyed by many. |
